In 1921, the National Association of Secondary School Principals passed a resolution to form the National Honor Society. The purpose of the Society was to recognize predetermined standards of citizenship in secondary schools. This new organization was formed to create in students an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character.
Since 1921, the Society has flourished and is the leader among organizations and societies that promote appropriate recognition for students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. Thousands of schools are chartered and their chapters follow the national constitution. The Hebron High School chapter was organized in 1961.
